He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Stevens and Myrtle Stevens (Johnson); his wife Betty Bottem; his grandson Andrew Janzen; his great grandchild Lincoln Spitzner; his siblings, Doris Preston (Glenn), Darrel Stevens (Joyce), Neva Pilgrim and Ilene Sharkey (John); his siblings-in-law, Joan and LaVern Pearson; and his parents-in-law, Hazel and Oscar Bottem.

He is survived by: his children, Sandra Spitzner (Jim) of Prior Lake, Judy Lindquist (Gene) of Saint James, Vickie Janzen (Roger) of Waconia, Wayne Stevens (Corinne) of New Ulm, Barb Blaschko (Joel) of Lakeville and Warren Stevens (Tammy) of Saint James; his grandchildren, Matthew, Kate Spitzner, Kelly Spitzner, Johnny Adamic, Shaun Lindquist, Nathan Lindquist, Derek Lindquist, Abby Malinski, Eric Janzen, Amanda Janzen, Katie, Andrew Harris, Peter, Angie Stevens, Joshua Blaschko, Tess McNamara, Adam Blaschko, Geena Maharaj, Chantel Stevens, Justin, Haley Stevens, Brady and Hannah Stevens; his great grandchildren, Cooper, Wesley, Killian, Murdoch Spitzner, Arlo, Sabine Adamic, Darcy, Amber Lindquist, Nora, Ethan Lindquist, Maggie, Oscar Janzen, Gavin, Jayden Harris, Matthew, Lucas, David Stevens, Ranvir Blaschko, Grayson and Maverick Stevens; his siblings, Maxine Berge (Arvid), Ron Stevens (Karen), Larry Stevens (Becky), Carol Stevens, Bill Kay and Roger Stevens (Belinda); and his brother-in-law Richard Pilgrim. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
