He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor Pogatchnik and Inez Pogatchnik (Barry); his grandson Jesse Himsl; his son-in-law Steve Himsl; his siblings, Marie Winter (George), June Ney (Philip), Corrine Zimmermann (Harry), Victor, Jr. (Mary) and John; and his brother-in-law Lawrence Marolt.
He is survived by: his wife Eileen Riesner; his children, Pamela Himsl, Melanie Pogatchnik, Joseph, Jr. (Beth) and Cindy Ritzer (Chris); and his siblings, LaVerne Marolt, Ardell Nadesan (Alex), Patricia Welters (Jerry) and Jean Ramacher (Jim). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, July 20th 2025 at 9:30 AM and from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Daniel Funeral Home (120 College Ave N, St Joseph, MN 56374). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Columbkille Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
