He was predeceased by: his parents, David Benjamin and Virginia Benjamin; his brother Patrick Benjamin; and his sister-in-law Catherine Benjamin. He is survived by: his son Fran Benjamin (Jason Rodich); his granddaughters, Isadora Benjamin-Rodich and Frida Benjamin-Rodich; and his siblings, Sue Bobek (Greg), Barbara Nystedt (Roger) and Kevin Benjamin.
