He was predeceased by: his wife Judy; his daughter Cheri Axel; his parents, Sam Silverman and Blanche Silverman; his parents-in-law, Marion and John Gepner; and his brothers, Bob Burk and Greg Gepner.

He is survived by: his daughters, Wendy Sigel and Julie Silverman (Brett Weinberg); his son-in-law Todd Axel; his siblings, Eunice Burk, Jim Kaplan, Rob Gepner-Mueller (Zoana) and Connie Woodworth; and his grandchildren, Sophie, Hannah Sigel, Andrew, Evan Weinberg and Wyatt Axel. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.
