David touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Ekstrand and Laurie Ekstrand (Larson); his siblings, Jon Ekstrand, Robert Ekstrand and Joy Lutzi; and his nephew Steve Ekstrand (Mary K. St).
He is survived by: his sibling's children, Phil Lutzi, Howard Ekstrand (Judy), Barb Bartz (Charlie), Liz Lutzi (Bruce Sines), Peg Ekstrand (Dan Barnett) and Deb Ekstrand; his stepchildren, Mary Jo Nelson, Cathryn Miller (David), Russell Nelson, Juli St. John and Holly Sweeney (Steve); his close friend Jackie Cosgrove; and his wife Mary K.. He is also survived by two great nieces, one great-great niece and two great-great nephews.
Memorials may be given to St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, or the Golden Gopher Fund.
