He was predeceased by: his parents, Valentine Thomas and Mary Thomas; his wife Jeanne; his sisters, Jewel Parsons, Rose (Joe Schwietz), Joan (Bill Grun) and Val (Pete Parranto); and his grandson Ernest Thomas L'Heureux.

He is survived by: his brother-in-law Jon Lang; and his nieces and nephews, Rob Thomas (Cyndi), Tim Thomas (Geri), Mike Thomas (Susan), Jeanne Rylander (Don) and Lisa Arcand (Mike). He is also survived by 16 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren.
