He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Bontrager and Clara Bontrager (Schrock); and his siblings, Susan, Albert, Harvey, Elizabeth, Rudy, Jonas, Barbara and Esther.
He is survived by: his children, Jeanine Bontrager, Stuart Bontrager (Mary) and Valerie Peterson (Jon); his grandchildren, Bernadette Murphy (Keith Jacko), Brendan Murphy, Brittany Peterson (Kyle Smith), Michael Peterson (Hayley) and Matthew Peterson; and his great grandchildren, Hayven, McKinley and Brecklyn.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Gospel Center Church (930 S 30th St, South Bend, IN 46615). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 8th 2025 at 12:15 PM.
