Joey Bee wrote a sympathy message

“I didn't know Mark well, but I usually spent Wednesday evenings with him April through October for the last 6 or more years. We usually squaded together at Pine Island Sports Club (PIPS). He was a good guy to compete with, had a positive attitude, always did his share of the work, and was good company during the burgers at the end of the night. I have thought a lot about him these last few days since I heard of his passing. My condolences to his family and friends.”

Russell Garvey wrote a sympathy message

“Our hearts go out to you Carol. Mark was a good man who brought out the best in the people who were lucky enough to know him. He was so kind to our children. He mentored Ray in karate, preparing him before testing for his black belt and Martha loved hanging around with Mark at dog trials. He was so patient explaining all the ins and outs of each event. Mark was an amazing K9 officer and the best decoy for K9 Boone. He will be missed. Love, the Garvey Family.”

Ronald Whitman wrote a sympathy message

“Mark and I were Academy classmates. I'll always remember Mark's wry sense of humor. Early in our careers we worked West Sector or whatever it was back then. We partnered one Winter night; I was the passenger Officer. I put down my window for some reason. Mark locked the window control and had great fun watching me trying to figure out why my window wouldn't go up. I thought I broke it. We both laughed at that! I'll always remember Mark's half smile when he was amused.”

“Mark is sorely missed. He was a kind, gentle man who was a joy to be around. He was my horse, Khaki's, favorite human who Mark gave much love and care to. I can't get rid of the lump in my throat and sadness in my heart, and I cannot imagine how painful this is for you Carol and all of your family. Carol, we are here for you. Blessed are the peacekeepers for they are sons of God. My sympathies to all. We love you, Carol! - Caroline and Khaki Norsk”

Mollie Brodt wrote a sympathy message

“Mark was a wonderful, kind man. I worked with him for years in the Western District on the afternoon shift. Mark was a hard working cop and he took care of his co-workers. Our shift of cops was very close and we had so many good times through the years. We have great memories of Mark and our hearts are broken! Carol, I’m so sorry we didn’t get to do our dinner together up here in Pequot Lakes. Thinking and praying for you during this terribly difficult time. Mollie Brodt”

James Nash wrote a sympathy message

“I always looked up to Mark. He was a shining example of what a police officer should be and a much needed calming influence on me. His K9 career was ending as mine was beginning. He was always there to help me with advice and backing me up on searches after he had left the unit. Who could ask for a better backup. Mark you will be greatly missed. My prayers are with his family.”
