He was predeceased by: his parents, Cyril Schaefer and Una Schaefer (Westbrook); his wife Nancy (Letarte); and his siblings, Anne, Anthony, Brice and Martin Schaefer (Judy).
He is survived by: his children, Suzanne (Omri Shochatovitz) of Minneapolis, Cy Jr. (Bonnie) of Anaconda, MT, Cynthia of Minneapolis, Annmarie Moilanen (Mike) of Rice, Mary Nelson (John) of Plainfield, IL, Virginia Daniels (Mike) of Sauk Rapids and Sharon Mentzer (Kevin) of Sartell; and his brother David Schaefer (Sue). He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 7 (two on the way) great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, July 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church (219 2nd St N, Sartell, MN 56377). A prayer was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
