He was predeceased by : his parents, Arnold Hatlestad and Winifred Hatlestad; his wife Dolores (Dorie); and his brothers, Clayt and Donald Hatlestad.

He is survived by : his children, Kevin Hatlestad (Ann) of Excelsior, Jamie Hatlestad (Erin) of Sauk Rapids, Kim Eiden (Karl) of Monticello and Jenny Reyes (Rolando) of Bloomington; and his grandchildren, Katie, Hannah Hatlestad, Logan, Lauren, Isabella Hatlestad, Jenna, Nicholas, Allison Eiden, Rayna and Dylan Reyes.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Darrell's honor to Quiet Oaks Hospice House.
