Smolnik of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, born in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, who passed away at the age of 79, on June 30, 2023. He was predeceased by : his parents, Walter Smolnik and Selda Smolnik (Gehrke); and his siblings, Jim, Dick and Elaine Poepping.

He is survived by : his wife Marge; his children, Mike Smolnik of Sauk Rapids and Lynn Schroeder (Scott) of Sauk Rapids; his granddaughters, Lucy Schroeder (Mitch Trane) and Grace Schroeder; and his great grandchild Wyatt Trane.

In Lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or Prince of Peace Lutheran School.
