He was predeceased by: his parents, Corky and Dorothy; his former wife Theresa Schwering; his son Nathan; and his brothers, Jim and Jon Blanchard.

He is survived by: his wife Mari Afseth; his children, Jean Raum (Randy), Jessica Conklin (Mark) and Matthew Blanchard (Jessica Saalsaa); his stepchildren, Brooke Nelson (Dave), Farrah Frost (Ollie), John Knies, Adam Afseth (Nancy) and Marli Hart (Ian); and his siblings, Ann Saltz, Barbara Pappas (Jim) and Paul Blanchard. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
