He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul and Hattie; his son Tony; his brother-in-law Dennis Schmitz; and his nephew Tom Schmitz.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Schmitz; his children, Scott Putzke (Lynn) of Sebeka, Jaccie Nelson (Rick) of Sebeka and Janelle Ahlgren (David) of Rice; his grandchildren, Adrienne, Whitney, Josh, Allyson, Cassie, Jacob, Katie, Dakota, Kaleb, Olivia, Erica and Sammie; and his siblings-in-law, Keith Schmitz (Diane) of Park Rapids, Linda Lilly (George) of Nimrod and June Schmitz of Carlton. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
