James touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Nelson and Violet Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Becky (Mohs); his children, Jennifer Sullivan (Kevin), Elisha Shaughnessy (Colin) and Tom Nelson; his sisters, Sandra Sams and Sheree Lavelle; his grandchildren, Brodie, Mollie, Finn, Declan and Eden; and his pets, Lucie, Harlie, Bella and Obi.

A celebration of life was held on Thursday, May 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and at 6:00 PM at the McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation (1220 3rd Ave E, Shakopee, MN 55379).
