Glorienne (Brooks) Hutchings Obituary
Glorienne “Glo” Hutchings of Vadnais Heights, MN passed away on Thursday, February 24 at
the age of 90.
She was born on September 29, 1931 in New York, NY where she grew up with her loving
father, Leo Brooks, who passed away when she was 12, and her devoted mother, Florence
Brooks (Martin).
Glo graduated from Sewanhaka High School, Floral Park, NY in 1949. Following graduation,
she worked as a secretary and then began a career in banking. She met and married her husband,
Sherman “Sherm” in 1952. They lived in Hicksville, NY until retirement.
Before moving to Minnesota in January, 2021, Glorienne lived in the On Top of the World
community in Ocala, FL.
She and her husband, Sherm, were members of Ocala West United Methodist Church. Glo was
very involved in the OTOW treatre group, Swinging Singing Seniors, Tour Toppers and The 100
Grandparents reading program.
Glorienne was preceded in death by her father, Leo Brooks, her mother Florence Brooks Martin
and her beloved husband, Sherman Edward Hutchings.
She is survived by her daughter, Doreen Lee Hutchings (Michael Powell) of Circle Pines, MN,
her son, David Sherman Hutchings (Elizabeth) of Gainesville, FL, grandchildren, Jennifer Lee
Hubal (Andrew), Gregory Sherman Hutchings (Michelle), Amanda Lynn Fischer (Thomas) and
Angela Rose Hutchings (Tyler Armentano) and five great-grandchildren, Hannah Lynn Hubal,
Aaron Paul Hubal, William James Fischer, Avery Sherman Hutchings and Hailey Mae Fischer.
The family would like to thank the nurses and the staff at Gable Pines for the love and assistance
that they provided for Glo for the past year. We are grateful to St. Therese at St. Odilia’s and the
HealthPartners’s Hospice team for the loving care and compassion they showed our
Mom/Mama/Grandma in her final days.
A Celebration of Life for Glo will take place at a later date. We will send out notifications of a
time and place that all family and friends are welcomed to attend.
