She was predeceased by: her parent Lillian (Emil Ranta); her husband Leroy Essen; her sons, Ian and James; and her sister Lola.
She is survived by: her son Scott (Kristie) of Maple, WI; her grandchildren, Megan (Adam), Nicholas of Lake Nebagamon, WI, Cole, Breklyn and Aunikka of Maple, WI; her great grandchildren, Colton, Karson and Kameron of Lake Nebagamon, WI; and her siblings, Archie Ranta (Joey), Bonnie Sibel (John) and Linda Johnson (Ken).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Atkins-Northland Funeral Home (801 14th St, Cloquet, MN 55720). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 12:15 PM to 1:15 PM at the Maple Grove Cemetery (1401 Poplar Ave, Cloquet, MN 55720).
