He was predeceased by : his parents, John S. and Mary J. Nowak (Goranowski); his wife Mary Ann; his father-in-law Wendelin Michel; and also Agnes Michel (Busch).

He is survived by : his children, Marjorie Marchese (Dan), Daniel Nowak (Beth), Nancy Plamann (Dave), Lisa Stifter (Louis) and Jeremy Nowak (Marie). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.
