He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Dierks and Elnora Hardekopf Dierks; his wife Mary; his son-in-law Brad Gertsema; his sister Cynthia Dierks; his parents-in-law, Clarence and Evelyn Lucker; and his brother-in-law James "Jim" Engelkes.
He is survived by: his children, Mike (Dody Dierks), Kristen Gertsema of St. James, MN and Lori (Sean Boots); his grandchildren, Payton Dierks, Madison, Kennedy and Dawson Gertsema; his siblings, Dennis, Mary Jo Dierks of Fulda, MN, Ron, Beverly of Orlando and Gayleen Dierks of St. Cloud, MN; his in-laws, Carol, Richard "Dick" Engelkes of Slayton, MN, Diane Engelkes of Slayton, MN, Brian and Jan Lucker; his close friend Ruth Egenes of Slayton, MN; Elnora Dierks of Fulda, MN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
