With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joan Vasgaard (Slayton, Minnesota), who passed away on April 10, 2026 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Norris Kurtz and Iola Kurtz (Gubrud); her son Dr. Joel Vasgaard; her father-in-law John Vasgaard Jr.; and her brother-in-law Richard Vasgaard.
She is survived by: her husband Chuck; her son Eric Vasgaard (Stephanie); her grandchildren, Lincoln and Annie; her siblings, Carol Mersch (Bob), Jim Kurtz (Ethel), Bob Kurtz (Alice) and Glen Kurtz (Sue); her mother-in-law Patty Vasgaard; and her in-laws, Joyce Vasgaard, Jeff Vasgaard, Barb Kippes (Joe) and James Vasgaard (Pam). She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
At the start of the COVID shut down, Sillerud Lutheran Church assigned to some of its members the task of writing to those elderly who could not attend.
