Darrel Franklin Schmidt Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Darrel Franklin Schmidt of South Haven, Minnesota, who passed away on May 23, 2025 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his former wife Luverne Kubinski; his wife Elizabeth J. DeChaney; his son Roland; and his brothers, Chester, Howard, Delmer and Kenneth.
He is survived by: his girlfriend Jane Westrup; his children, Thomas (Maggie Bania) of Annandale, Natalie Johnson (Charles) of Kimball and Julianne Shirley of Bastrop, TX; his daughter-in-law Jeanne Schmidt of Annandale; his grandchildren, April, Tony, Kelly, Abby, Nick, Emily, Janelle, Jennifer, Brian, Adam, Levi, Bethany, Tina, Tracy, Tammy, Tara, Nathan and Evan; his stepchildren, Julie Revering (Tom), Jill Dixon and Kerry Kubinski; his children, Keith Westrup (Betty), Kim Westrup (Wendy), Kari Siltanen (Leonard), Kathy Kraemer (Flave), Kurtis Westrup (Rita) and Kevin Westrup (Ria); and his brothers, Ronnie Schmidt (Marlys) and Roger Schmidt (Peggy). He is also survived by several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, June 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kimball United Methodist Church (141 Hwy 55, Kimball, MN 55353). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
