He is survived by : his children, J. D., Anna (Ted Conover) and Gretchen Vrolijk (Nate); and his grandsons, Case and Arie Vrolijk.

His passing, attributed to a rare blood disorder, serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of blood donation. In honor of John's memory, the family kindly requests that friends and well-wishers donate blood to replenish the over 40 blood transfusions that sustained him in his final two weeks.
