He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Russell and Gladys Amberg Russell; and his sister Marilyn Mortensen. He is survived by: his wife Judith Russell (Judie); his children, Thomas (Tom), Katherine (Katie) and Molly; and his grandchild Mckenzie Ferguson.

Memorials are preferred to the University of Minnesota Medical School Scholarship Fund.
