He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Sr. Nelson and Helen Nelson; his sisters, Avis (Vernon Mattson), Iris (Rudy Kivimaki) and Norma; his brother-in-law Bill Johnson; and his parents-in-law, Emmett and Mildred Bonde.

He is survived by: his wife Ardith Bonde; his children, Karin (Jeff) and Mikel (Julie); his grandchildren, Ben Nelson (Paige), Katie Rydeen (Joe), Andy Nelson, McKenzie Barth (Kurtis Silvernale) and Parker Barth (Olivia); his great grandchildren, Remington, Emmett, Colton, Jett and Lottie; and his sister Mary. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
