He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy O'Brien and Blanch O'Brien (Cook); his wife Marilyn Shea of Blackduck; his sons, Randy and Patrick; his brothers, Raymond, Warren and Keith O'Brien; and his half-brother Harold O'Brien.
He is survived by: his sons, James O'Brien of Bemidji and Kelly O'Brien of Tenstrike; and his sisters, Maureen Quimby (Ed) of Tenstrike and Kay Anderson (Bud) of Bemidji. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.
