He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Bakken and Gladys Bakken (Swenson); his sister Melitte Bakken; his nephews, Jamie and Jason Dyrdal; his great-niece Marissa Dyrdal; and his siblings-in-law, Marlys Bakken and Gary Smalley.
He is survived by: his siblings, Melville Bakken, Marilyn Smalley of Mount Gilead, OH, Marvin Bakken and Myrna Dyrdal of Crookston, MN; and his nieces and nephews, Angela Poole, Melanie Burger (Roland), Wendy Bakken, Lori Bland (Tim), Kathy Bucci (Fernando), Ryan Bakken (Jamie), Rob Bakken (Tanya), Kevin Bakken (Lexie), Chad Bakken, Becky May (Jason), Melissa Dyrdal, Brent Dyrdal (Sarah) and Tony Dyrdal (Liz).
