He was predeceased by: his parents, Cloyd Veit and Ruth Veit (Klenk); and his brothers, Edmond and Richard. He is survived by: his wife Lucy (Tate) of Tracy, MN; his sons, Robert (Lou Ann) of Pensacola, FL, John (Juanita) of Alexandria, MN and Gary (Lynette) of Monticello, FL; his sisters-in-law, Sharon Veit of North Liberty, IA and Phyllis Ohlman of Valentine, NE; his uncle Harold Jack of Chelsea, IA; and his grandchildren, Georgia, Jacob and Laura. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude's hospital.
