He was predeceased by: his parents, William Merz and Frances Merz (Kraft); and his sibling Valley. He is survived by: his siblings, Mary Merz (Al Max), Joseph Merz, Laurie Starling (Mark) and Betty Merz; his siblings' children, Matt Severson, Emily Severson and Lindsey York; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Malakai, Norah and Iggy.
