Alwyn Markham Martinson Obituary

We announce the death of Alwyn Markham Martinson (Vergas, Minnesota), who passed away on September 23, 2026, at the age of 100. Alwyn will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hilmer Martinson and Ellen Martinson (Klengson); his wife Marilyn Lankow; his son-in-law Gary Schmit; his daughter Carol Stratton; his grandson Theodore Kahle; and his siblings, Oline, Ellsworth, Conrad, Miriam Shelstad and Loraine Lankow.

He is survived by: his children, Dennis Martinson (Rain), David Martinson, Donna Mineer (Lynn) and Mary Lou Schmit; his son-in-law Philip Stratton; his grandchildren, Brook Martinson-Halls, Marcus Zitzow, Tracy Young (Peter), Adam, Landon Schmit (Katy) and Jared Kahle (Megan); his great grandchildren, Noah and Laura Young; his grandchildren, Elodie and Otto Kahle; and his siblings, Gordon Martinson (Artis), Donald Martinson, Virginia Lankow and Janice Michels. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Vergas United Methodist Church (200 W Main St, Vergas, MN 56587). A memorial service was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
