He was predeceased by: his parents, William Schmitz and Mary Schmitz (Boyer); his siblings, Greg (Bernita), William Jr. (Amelia), Fred (Muriel), Bernard, Evelyn Ament (Ray), Delores Ament (Leo), Phyllis Keppers (Rich) and Don Schmitz (Elaine); and his parents-in-law, Paul and Phyllis Hassa.
He is survived by: his wife Pat; his sons, Peter (Lori) of Verndale, Jacob (Monica) of Corpus Christi, TX, Phillip (Tracy) of Milaca and Andrew (Amy) of Wadena; and his siblings-in-law, Aggie Schmitz and Lauren Hassa. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
