He was predeceased by : his parents, John Turja and Mildred Turja (Westurn); his son Thomas Jr.; his siblings, Gene, James and Robert Turja; his brother-in-law John Gentile; and his parents-in-law, Orlando and Frances Gentile.

He is survived by : his wife Darlene Gentile; his son Paul Turja of Eveleth; and his siblings-in-law, Louis Gentile (Janice) of Gilbert and Claire Gentile of Eagle River, Alaska. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, September 22nd 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church (306 2nd St S, Virginia, MN 55792). A funeral mass was held on Friday, September 22nd 2023 at 11:00 AM at the same location. The inurnment was held on Friday, September 22nd 2023 at 12:20 PM at the Calvary Cemetery (1301 9th St N, Virginia, MN 55792).
