He was predeceased by: his mother Waltraud "Wally" Schmitt (Rosenow); his grandparents, Ray, Jean Schmitt, Arthur and Flora Rosenow; and his cousin David Schmitt.
He is survived by: his father Lennis Schmitt; his brother Ryan Schmitt (Elayna Melchior); and his aunts and uncles, Gary (Donna Schmitt), Lynette (Mark Gilliland), Janice (Larry Wirtz), Chuck (Pam Schmitt) and Christa Masonaw of Germany. He is also survived by cousins, other relatives and friends.
His last gift of organ and tissue donation was Josh's willingness to give what he could and to pay it forward.
