She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Diethelm and Marie Diethelm (Shutrop); her husband John Schmitt; her children, Denise Veith and Allan Schmitt; her brother Gordon Diethelm (Clara); her parents-in-law, George and Josephine Schmitt; and her siblings-in-law, Elmer, Mary Schmitt, Betty, Earl Koelmen, Carol Helming, Kenneth, Clare Schmitt and Judy Pulkrabek.
She is survived by: her daughter Gerene Ripplinger of Waconia; her children-in-law, Vonnie Schmitt of Cologne and Jeff Veith of Belle Plaine; her granddaughter Heidi Ripplinger; her great grandchildren, Andrew Ripplinger, Lance Ripplinger, Mallory Ripplinger, Wyatt Budziszewski, Bria Budziszewski, Hunter Schmitt, Mikayla Schmitt and Lydia Schrempp; and her brother-in-law Ron Helming of Chaska.
