He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Elling (Bud) and Ramona Elling; his parents-in-law, Clarence Schmitt and Winnifred Schmitt; his brothers-in-law, David Schuler and Steven Schmitt; and his nephew Eric Erickson.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Schmitt; his children, Jenna Lange (Greg) and Scott Elling (Selda); his grandsons, Cole Lange, Trevor Lange, Ryan Lange, Riley Elling and Kaan Elling; his brothers, Gerry Elling (Karen), Dan Elling (Deb) and Jim Elling (Janet); and his siblings-in-law, Linda Schuler, Mary Techau (Kendall), Jane Hedtke, Diana Wagener (Chris), Jim Schmitt (Cheryl), Rick Schmitt (Joan) and Clancy Schmitt (Katie). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Oakwood Community Church (8805 Klein Dr, Waconia, MN 55387). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
