He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Hilgers and Hedwig Hilgers (Vanderlinde); his brothers, Bobby and Jim Hilgers; his parents-in-law, George and Margaret Weinzierl; and his brothers-in-law, George "Butch" Weinzierl, Don Charland, Phil Casperson and Bill Shinehouse.

He is survived by : his siblings-in-law, Shirley Meuwissen, Betty Charland and Dale Thiesfeld; his wife Georgian; his sons, Jeff Hilgers (Sue) and Scott Hilgers (Karma Wessels); his grandchildren, Jenny Nace (Kevin), Paula Hubbard (Jared), Cindy O'Brien (Sean), Angela Correll (Aaron), AJ Hilgers and Cody Hilgers; his great grandchildren, Tristan, Hayden, Emma Nace, Hattie, Emery, Kinsley Hubbard, Savannah, Calvin O'Brien, Bryce and Blane Correll; his brother Dan Hilgers (Sue); and his siblings-in-law, June Hilgers, Lynn Forcier, Margie Shinehouse, Meri Casperson, Gloria Thiesfeld, Ron Weinzierl, Bernie Meuwissen and Dorothy Weinzierl. He is also survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 at 9:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Community (41 E 1st St, Waconia, MN 55387). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
