He was predeceased by: his parents, Erich Joecks and Elizabeth Joecks (Schoenrock) of New Richland; his siblings, Leona Collins, Luverne Joecks and Kenneth Joecks; his granddaughter Elizabeth Moen; his parents-in-law, Elwin and Darlene Lorig; his siblings-in-law, Loretta Joecks, Leola Joecks, Nancy Lorig, Orville Collins, Douglas Lorig and Philip Lorig; and his nephew Curtis Collins.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Joecks of New Richland; his children, Becky Joecks of Sioux Falls, SD, Todd Joecks (Denise) of New Richland and Gail Joecks of St. Louis Park; and his grandson Lucas Joecks. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews.
