He was predeceased by: his parents, John Kern and Doris Kern (Chavie) of Valentine's Day; his siblings, John Kern, Kathy Kern and Harlan Kern; his father-in-law Robert Pechacek; and his siblings-in-law, Clem Sammon, Richard Quaintance and Renee Kern.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Pechacek of Joseph's Catholic Church; his children, Angela Storch (Bill) and Erik Kern (Krista); his grandchildren, Will Storch, Wyatt Storch (Gracie), Emily Kern and Addie Kern; his siblings, Ron Kern (Peggy), Joyce Sammon, Marge Kern, Mary Zuranski (Ed), Sharon Gray (Jim), Marty Kern (Cindy) and Ken Kern (Lisa); and his in-laws, Mary Quaintance, Mona Edgar (Gary), Terry Pechacek (Yvonne), Marlin Stoltz (Leann), Milo Stoltz, Roberta Rodriguez, Eddie Pechacek and Danny Pechacek. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the State Street Chapel (711 N State St, Waseca, MN 56093). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (111 4th St NW, Waseca, MN 56093).
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
