He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick Dougherty and Catherine Dougherty (Mies); his wife Marilyn Steil; his son Gerald; his siblings, Raymond (Diane), Edward (Evelyn), Lorraine and Richard (Sonja); and his brother-in-law Jim Steil.
He is survived by: his children, Wayne (Ruth) of Willmar, David (Sandy) of Litchfield and Sherry Stevenson (Graham) of Eden Valley; his grandchildren, Irene, Francine, Heather Niesen (Tom), Jesse Stenger, Ashley Yang (Dinny), Tiffany, Stephanie Karl (Evan), Steven (Alyssa), Samuel and Becca Steinemann (Elijah); his brother Alvin (Joyce); and his siblings-in-law, Frank Steil (Rose) and Debbie Steil.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Johnson Hagglund Funeral and Cremation (316 S Sibley Ave, Litchfield, MN 55355). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Our Lady (57482 Csah 3, Grove City, MN 56243).
