She was predeceased by: her parents, Gordon Modey and Mary Modey; her husband Edwin Scherping; her brother Ed; her sister-in-law Rose Modey; her brother Clarence; and her sister-in-law Erna Scherping.
She is survived by: her sons, Dan and Mark (Tonya); her grandchildren, Talin (Eliza) and Katelyn; her son James (Katherine); her granddaughters, Stephanie, Brianna and Amanda; her great grandchild Susan Garmen (Greg); her grandsons, Matthew (Angelina), Nicholas (Samantha) and Jackson; her brother James; and her sisters-in-law, Carol Modey and Yvonne Johnson of Fargo, ND.. She is also survived by her family, friends, and neighbors.
She shared her quilting talents by donating quilts to the Mahnomen County Historical Society to be auctioned off at their fund raisers.
