He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Mortenson and Ruth Mortenson (Day); his daughter Samantha Mortenson; his stepdaughter Billie Jo Holmer; and his siblings, Ronald, Merle, Floyd, Les, Vida, Helen, Buck and Audrey.
He is survived by: his son Bruce "Chief" Mortenson Jr. (Rachel) of Waverly, MN; his grandchildren, Iris, Daisy, Scott Jr., Leland, Warrior, Frank, Allison, Ashley and Kayla; his stepsons, Scott Warren of Ogema, MN and Preston Kier of Ogema, MN; his brother Roy Mortenson of Hitterdal, MN; and his close friend Sandra Kier (Warren). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Anderson Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Mahnomen (719 N Main St, Mahnomen, MN 56557). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
