He was predeceased by: his parents, Gene Welch and Mary Ellen Welch (Fleming); his stepfather Robert Asbridge (Bubs); and his brother James Welch. He is survived by: his wife Rita; his children, Colleen Probst (Paul), Patrick Welch (Cheryl) and Katie Welch-Len (Steve); and his grandchildren, Alexandra, Kelley, Charlene Probst, Connor, Ryan, Dillon Welch, Julia, Megan, Ashlyn Peterson, Shelby and Olivia Len.
