He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Franklin Pearce and Beatrice Rinehart Rowe Pearce; his uncle Herb; his aunt Bertha Hutchinson; his wife Barbara Smith; his granddaughter Grace Reyelts; his children, Mary Reyelts (Paul), Laurie Pearce, William Owen Pearce (Peg) and Betsy Pearce (Michael); and his grandchildren, Jennifer Fiore, William E Pearce, James Pearce and William Reyelts. He was also cherished by great grandchildren; and his dear friends.

In lieu of flowers donations could be made to the University of Minnesota Law School Scholarship Fund through the University of Minnesota Foundation.
