He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Grohs and Ethel Grohs (Ostermann); his son Edward; and his brother Joel Grohs. He is survived by: his wife Avis Hormann; his great grandchildren, Becky Boom (Jeff, family: Jamie Clasemann) of Wheaton, MN, Brandie (Riley), Maanum (Ridley) and Brittany Boom-Bohne (Steve); his family, Gavyn (Elizabeth), Ketterling (Brynn), Beau (Nicole), Kashmark (Kora) and Dakotah Viktora (Robin); his children, Grace, Emma Seifert and Bentley Grohs; his siblings, Carol Mader (Jim), Larry Grohs, Rich Grohs, Steve Grohs, Dan Grohs, David Grohs and Kevin Grohs (Dawn); and his sisters-in-law, Rita Leppanen, Ione Reynolds and Shirley Hormann. He is also survived by his children, nine grandchildren.
