He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Niemela and Aune Niemela (Kortesmaki); his wife Martha Niemela (Battey); and his siblings, Donald Niemela and Barbara Yager.
He is survived by: his children, Jenny Niemela (Peter Anderson) of St. Paul, Minn and Doug Niemela (Melissa Cuff) of St. Paul; his grandsons, Victor Hietalahti and Rocky Niemela; and his sister Audrey Anderson (Mich) of Laingsburg. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
