He was predeceased by: his parents, Heinrich "Henry" Buechler and Margaret Buechler (Luithle); his wife Julie Nelson; his in-laws, Raymond and Elsie Nelson; his daughter-in-law Kelly Buechler; and his siblings, Eleanor Opp Gross, Ervin Buechler, Harvey Buechler and Calvin Buechler.
He is survived by: his children, Craig Buechler of Alexandria, MN and Patti Portner (Neil) of Coal Valley, IL; his grandchildren, Michael Buechler (Kelsey), Kayli McCann (Luke), Preston Buechler (Brooke), Kyle Portner and Jarod Portner; his great grandchildren, Braxtyn, Briggs, Berkeley Buechler, Caleb and Macy McCann; his sisters, Ella Stotz, Wilma Wolff, Linda Toller (Jimmy) and DeAnne Weber (Richard); and his sister-in-law Deloras Buechler.
