Virgil leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Virgil’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Gerdes and Emma Gerdes; and his wife Marvis Gort. He is survived by: his children, Steve Gerdes (Julie) of Casa Grande, AZ., Kim Gerdes (Fern) of Willmar, Kathy Jaarsma of Las Vegas, NV. and Keith Gerdes of Richmond, CA.. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to honor Virgil may be directed to the Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsburg.
