He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gronewold and Anna Gronewold (Poggendorf); his former wife Marjorie Marie Yost; his sons, Douglas and Donald; and his siblings, Marvin Gronewold, Irma Pallaoro and Bernita Gronewold.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann Cierzan; his children, Denise Jones of Weston, WI and Daniel Gronewold (Sharrie) of Champlain, MN; his daughter-in-law Debbie Best of Onalaska, WI; and his sister Velma Andrews of Denver, CO. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other beloved relatives.
