He was predeceased by : his parents, John Thompson and Mary Thompson (Fjelstad); his mother-in-law Elaine Wild; and his sister-in-law Amy Hundorf. He is survived by : his friend Abraham Lincoln; his wife Debbie; his children, Andy Thompson (Clarissa), Kristie O'Brien (Mathias) and Kerrie Mohr (Russ); his grandchildren, Alana, Moses and Talia; his father-in-law Fred Wild; his siblings-in-law, Laura Clay (Tom) and Warren; and his brothers, Pat (Jan), Dan (Bonnie), Jim (Jenny), Bill and Pete (Jennifer).

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hoff Funeral Home (3480 Service Dr, Winona, MN 55987). A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Athletic Booster Club.
