He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schell and Neola Schell (Paine); his brothers, Major Richard Schell, John "Jack" Schell and Jim Schell; his sister-in-law Sue Schell; and his godson Randy Schell.
He is survived by: his wife Rhonda Ties (Byom) of Bill's Welding; his children, Jennifer Stephans (Corey) of Eyota, MN and Terry Schell (Shannon) of Rochester, MN; his siblings, Sandra Hengel (Tom) of Rollingstone, MN, Mary Kahabka (Reeve) of Gilbert, AZ and Edwin Schell (Beverly) of Winona, MN; and his grandchildren, Tarrin, Tyler Stephans, Elliot, Isaac and Easton Schell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hoff Funeral Home (3480 Service Dr, Winona, MN 55987). A celebration of life was held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Honor Flight Network to support veterans, like Bill, honor our nation's heroes with the trip of a lifetime, which Bill received in April 2026.
