He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Joseph Sr. and Elizabeth Schommer (Weber); his wife Germaine Schommer (Hausladen); his grandchildren, Joshua Schommer and Sandra Schommer; and his siblings, John Schommer, Marie Munn (Robert), Joe Schommer (Mary), Dorothy Pomerleau (Ralph), Jenny Rambow (Arnie), Roman Schommer (Betty), Louise Arens (Erwin), Susan Benson (Robert), Rita Pepin (Bob), Rose Dykhoff (Gerald) and Leo Schommer.
He is survived by: his children, Paul Schommer (Ann), Gary Schommer (Joi), Peter Schommer (Marti), Patrick Schommer (Lisa), Jeff Schommer (Yvonne) and Peggy Schommer; and his sister Betty Ann Farr. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the McLeod County Food Shelf or the American Heart Association.
