He was predeceased by: his wife Julia Boone; his daughter Jeanette Sand; his son-in-law Peter Sand; his parents, Gabriel Diederich and Florence Diederich; and his brother Gabriel.
He is survived by: his children, Gale Bakeberg (Robert), Kara Reiser (Kevin), Jana Quast (Roger) and Mary Douglas (Matt). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
